Owen Price leads pioneering research into the effectiveness of prescribed burning and bushfire risk planning.

He researches field and remotely sensed fuel dynamics, smoke dispersal, fire spread and severity, effectiveness of construction standards and house defence, suppression effectiveness (water-bombing and backburning), fire risk estimation and mapping, cultural burning, and plant and animal fire ecology.

He is an expert data manager, spatial and statistical analyst and programmer. He has strong ties with the managers, analysts and field staff at RFS and DPE from 15 years of collaborative research and has published 120 journal articles and 66 reports.
