Vijay Kumar
PhD Candidate
Vijay Kumar is a Dual PhD student at Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (Dr. YSP UHF), Solan (Himachal Pradesh), India, and the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, Australia.
Having grown up in the foothills of the Himalayas, he developed a deep and enduring connection with nature from an early age. This close relationship with forested landscapes fostered a strong interest in forest sciences, ultimately guiding his academic and professional pursuits. He holds a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Dr. YSP UHF (2021) and a master’s degree in forestry from Kerala Agricultural University (2023).
His current research focuses on examining the effects of changing fire regimes on the resistance and resilience of two ecologically distinct forest ecosystems: chir pine (Pinus roxburghii) forests in the western Himalayas and eucalypt forests in southeastern Australia.
